Ambition In Motion was started in 2013 by Garrett Mintz, an Indiana University student who identified the problem that too many of his older peers were graduating and pursuing careers that “on paper” looked excellent and paid them well but in reality made them miserable.

The initial idea for Ambition In Motion was to connect college students with alumni for mentorship and professional guidance with the goal of helping them better prepare for what to expect in the professional world.

Ambition In Motion’s vision is a world where the vast majority of people are excited to go to work, when they are there their expectations meet reality, and when they come home, they feel fulfilled.

That vision still holds true today. Ambition In Motion has altered its focus from implementing mentor programs from students to alumni to companies connecting their employees together for mentor relationships. Ambition In Motion made this pivot for a few reasons but the main reason was the opportunity to make an effective impact on a more consistent basis. First, they observed that they were garnering greater traction and outcomes from older students and began noticing that many alumni were requesting to get a mentor. Ambition In Motion then decided to allow alumni (who were already professionals in their careers) to sign up and get mentors from other alumni and saw great results from implementing this type of mentorship. Therefore, Ambition In Motion decided to pivot and focus on working with companies interested in growing their culture, connecting their team together in deeper and more intentional ways, and increasing engagement and confidence of employees.

Working in higher education provided Ambition In Motion with an extensive amount of knowledge to know how mentorship works and how people interact with one another for mentorship and provided them with significant data and opportunities to test how effective mentorship works.

Ambition In Motion’s founding team includes Garrett Mintz who manages their operations, John Mark Massey who is their developer, and Dave Criswell who helps and advises in sales.
